Opinion | "We'll see more names of Chinese scientists receiving science prizes soon": Azerbaijani scholar highlights China's technological progress
China's key political event, "two sessions", is taking place in Beijing this week. Recently, Rafig Abbasov, Dean of Confucius Institute at Azerbaijan Language University and David Petrosian, an Armenian independent political analyst, said in an interview with China Youth Daily that high-tech injects "high-tech" power into China's economic development.

Abbasov said that in recent years, the growth of global economy has diverged significantly, with some major economies experiencing a marked slowdown or even a decline in economic growth, caused by a number of geopolitical and economic issues. To overcome these serious challenges and revive the global economy, it is necessary to rely on the effective pull of major economies, especially China, which is the driving force of the global economy.
In the interview, Petrosian pointed out that whether it is the total economic volume or the economic growth rate, China occupies an extremely important position in global economic development. China is accelerating the development of new quality productivity to promote the high-quality development of China's economy. Among them, China in the aerospace, biotechnology, communication technology and artificial intelligence and other high-tech achievements and development prospects for global attention. "I am almost certain that soon, very soon, we will see more and more names of Chinese scientists in new science prizes in the future." Petrosian said.
Abbasov further added that with national policy support, China's technological innovation and application will be further accelerated, high-tech will continue to provide the energy needed for China's economic development and for the transformation and upgrading of the global economy.
Since China's reform and opening up in the last 40 years, private companies have contributed more than 50% of tax revenue, more than 60% of GDP, more than 70% of technological innovation, more than 80% of urban employment and more than 90% of the number of enterprises.
Abbasov said that the high-level symposium on private enterprises held in Beijing on February 17 has become an important wind vane for China to promote the development of the private economy. China's private economy has broad development prospects, and private enterprises and private entrepreneurs have great potential.
"From the private entrepreneurs who attended the symposium, we can see that China will continue to focus on high-tech development in its future economic development, and the Chinese government will give private enterprises a more important role in this area."
