During China's 2025 "two sessions", Lei Jun, Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Corporation, highlighted the rampant misuse of "AI face-swapping and voice synthesis" technology, which has led to widespread legal violations such as infringement of portrait rights, unauthorized use of personal information, and fraudulent crimes, posing significant risks to societal governance. In response, Lei proposed accelerating the legislative process for specialized laws and reinforcing the responsibilities and obligations of platform companies and relevant stakeholders to address these challenges.
