Spokesperson's Remarks|China will continue playing a constructive role for political settlement of Ukraine crisis
China stands ready to, in light of the will of the parties concerned and together with the rest of the international community, continue playing a constructive role for the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press conference in Beijing on Tuesday.

Mao made the remarks at a daily press briefing when answering a relevant question.
"China's position on the Ukraine crisis is consistent and clear," Mao said, adding that China did not create the Ukraine crisis, nor is China a party to it. Even so, China has since day one held an objective and fair position and promoted talks for peace.
Mao noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward four principles, namely, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be respected, the purposes and principles of the UN Charter should be observed, the legitimate security concerns of all countries should be taken seriously, and all efforts conducive to a peaceful settlement of the crisis should be supported. These principles are all the more relevant given the current circumstances.
Mao added that China has also issued a position paper of the Chinese government, sent the special representative on several rounds of shuttle diplomacy, and launched the Group of Friends for Peace on the Ukraine crisis at the UN to speak out with a fair and objective voice and promote talks for peace.
China believes that dialogue and negotiation provides the only viable way out of the Ukraine crisis, and support all efforts conducive to peace, Mao said. (By Ma Ziqian/China Youth Daily)
