The hydropower project in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River is located in Nyingchi, southwest Xizang. The project primarily adopts a method of cutting off river bends and straightening the course, using tunnels to divert water. It involves the construction of five cascade power stations, with a total investment of approximately 1.2 trillion yuan.
