Ancient Chinese lacquerware gains new life in digital era

Ye Tiantai, a young lecturer at Wuhan City Polytechnic, specializes in restoring ancient lacquerware and revitalizing traditional lacquer inlay craftsmanship through digital innovation. His projects include designing limited-edition smartphone cases inspired by ancient patterns and mentoring students to create award-winning contemporary lacquer art. Ye combines ancient craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics to engage younger generations in preserving this intangible cultural heritage.
