Spokesperson's Remarks｜China slams new U.S. tariffs on cars

Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned on Thursday U.S.'s new tariffs on cars, warning that trade and tariff wars have no winners, and no country in the world thrive and prosper through imposing tariffs.

Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the ministry, made the remarks in response to the U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of imposing new import taxes of 25 percent on all cars coming into the U.S..

"We noted that major trading partners of the U.S. have already responded." Guo said.

Guo pointed out that the U.S. levies violate WTO rules, undermine the rules-based multilateral trading system, hurt the common interests of people from all countries and will not help address the U.S.'s own problem. (By Ma Ziqian/China Youth Daily)
