The western extension of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge opened
The Huangmaohai Sea-Crossing Passage, connecting Zhuhai and Jiangmen in Guangdong province, officially opened at 3pm today. The travel time between Zhuhai and Jiangmen will be reduced from over an hour to approximately 30 minutes.
The Huangmaohai Sea-Crossing Passage is approximately 31 kilometers long, with the sea-crossing section measuring about 14 kilometers. It is designed with a standard of a six-lane expressway in both directions, with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
As the western extension of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the link will boost travel across the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The Huangmaohai Sea-Crossing Passage began construction in June 2020. The Huangmaohai Sea-Crossing Passage is the first cross-sea passage project to start construction after the release of the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area".
