Data in China | Up 14.9%! China's foreign trade continues to expand with resilience
The latest statistics from the General Administration of Customs show that in the first four months of 2026, China's total goods imports and exports reached 16.23 trillion yuan, equivalent to about $2.39 trillion, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.9% and maintaining solid growth momentum.
Amid a complex and changing external environment, China's foreign trade has not only continued to expand in scale, but also shown positive changes in structural optimization, upgraded growth drivers and more diversified markets.
On the export side, mechanical and electrical products continued to play a key supporting role. Green and low-carbon products, industrial robots and other products related to new quality productive forces posted strong performance, reflecting the shift of Chinese manufacturing from advantages in scale to strengths in quality, technology and branding.
Private enterprises remained China's largest foreign trade player, with their vitality continuing to serve as an important foundation for stable foreign trade. Meanwhile, China's trade with ASEAN, the European Union and Belt and Road partner countries continued to expand, making the country's trading partner structure more diversified.
Foreign trade data for the first four months of the year show that China's foreign trade has strong resilience and robust growth momentum, providing solid support for the economy's steady and positive development.
