May Day outbound travel boom points to rising consumer confidence in China

During the May Day holiday, Chinese travelers fanned out across the globe. Daily inbound and outbound passenger flows are expected to average 2.25 misllion. Chinese tourists are increasingly seeking immersive experiences, prompting destinations worldwide to upgrade services. Europe welcomed nearly 10 million Chinese travelers in 2025, and traffic from China to Central Asia rose 59.3%. Chinese outbound tourism energizes small businesses and creates jobs globally.
