China Heartbeats | Building a Digital Heart—One Beat at a Time

Imagine a heart you can hold, spin, and zoom into—seeing every valve, every pulse, every flaw. That's the promise of a digital twin heart, now being built by scientists in Beijing.

Using physics, math, and AI, researchers at the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence are creating patient-specific heart models. These virtual hearts can help surgeons rehearse complex procedures, predict drug side effects, and even scan a fetus's heartbeat through a mother's body—without any invasive tools.
