Youth Survey｜Micro-Majors Gain Popularity, with Students Seeking Further Improvements

Amid efforts to align higher education with labor market needs, China’s Ministry of Education launched the “Double Thousand Plan” in 2025 to promote micro-majors. A recent survey shows that these programs are now widely available and well received among students. Many students choose micro-majors because they offer practical training and clear links to industry, and see them as a way to build skills, explore interests, and expand career options. Meanwhile, students expect further improvements in course depth, teaching quality, and scheduling as micro-majors continue to develop.
