Tang Qianting kicked off the 2026 China Open with a bang—breaking the Asian record in the women's 50m breaststroke twice in a single day.
The 21-year-old swam 29.67 seconds in the morning heats and improved to 29.53 in the final, shattering her own mark.
After a tough 2025, including a bronze at last year's worlds, Tang says a fresh mindset and focused training on sprint events have revived her form—despite battling two recent illnesses.
