China Launches First High-Speed Rail to Yan’an, Slashing Travel Time
The Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed railway began operation on Dec 26, bringing the first HSR service to the revolutionary old base of northern Shaanxi. With a design speed of 350 km/h, the 299.8-km line cuts the fastest travel time between the two cities from 2.5 hours to about one hour. The project marks a milestone that China's total HSR network length now exceeds 50,000 km. The line will enhance regional connectivity and support western development. And advanced construction techniques were used to address challenging geology, setting a technical benchmark for future projects.(Photo/Ma Bo and Wu Yanxin)
