Guangzhou Baiyun Airport's Fifth Runway Validated in Test Flight

GUANGZHOU, July 30 -- A China Southern Boeing 777-300ER successfully completed a 5-hour validation flight on the new fifth runway of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport today. This critical procedure assessed navigation aids, infrastructure, and airspace compatibility.

Progress continues on the airport's ¥53.77 billion Phase III expansion—including the T3 terminal and two new runways. With the fourth runway operational since January and T3's structure completed, the project advances toward its target capacity of 140 million annual passengers and 6 million tonnes of cargo across five runways.
