With the relaxation of China's visa-free transit policy and the successful inclusion of the Spring Festival on UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list, foreign tourists' enthusiasm for travelling to China is growing.

The latest data from the National Immigration Administration showed that China's border control authorities have guaranteed 14.366 million inbound and outbound trips during this year's Spring Festival holiday, an increase of 6.3 percent year on year. Among them, there were 958,000 foreigners, an increase of 22.9 percent year on year.

According to data released by a Chinese online travel platform on February 4, the number of non-Chinese passport holders booking domestic flights in China during the Spring Festival in 2025 has increased by 70 percent year on year, with the top five countries being South Korea, the United States, Australia, Malaysia, and Canada. The number of inbound tour orders in Shanghai has increased by 93 percent year on year, bringing a new bright spot to the city's tourism consumption market.

Data released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism on February 4 showed that during the Spring Festival holiday, Beijing's inbound tours showed a hot trend, receiving 91,000 inbound tourists, an increase of 51.9 percent year on year, and realizing inbound tourism spending of 930 million yuan, up 52 percent year on year.

Data released by the Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau on February 4 also showed that the inbound tourism market has reached a new high. The city's inbound tourism has reached 46,000 during the Spring Festival holiday. (By Jia Zifan/China Youth Daily)
